Prevention is the key to a pollution free environment. Unfortunately accidents do happen, and when they do, the best possible product to contain, protect and recover the mess is PowderSorb.

While there are many different methods of recovery, both mechanical (Oil Skimmers) and physical (Boom, Particulate) and many different forms of each (Peat, Hay, Polypropylene), some tools simply work better. It is vitally important to understand the differences in relative efficiency and true cost.

USE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE RIGHT SITUATION

Using the right tool for the right situation (especially when time is against you) makes sense. An example is a snow shovel (square nose) and a dirt shovel (pointed nose). While both dig and lift, a snow shovel would be the wrong choice to use to dig a post hole in a rocky gravely environment. While it would work, it takes considerable more time and effort to perform the same task than with the narrow nose shovel. Sounds straight forward, but when it comes to removing unwanted hydrocarbons from sensitive areas we tend to want to use anything without realizing what is "best" and most "efficient" for the situation.

SOME TOOLS DON'T WORK AS WELL AS OTHERS and IN THE CASE OF OIL SPILL CLEANUP THE PHENOMENA OF ADSORPTION AND ABSORPTION MUST BE CONSIDERED

ADsorption vs ABsorption

Many current products claim to absorb oil. In most cases these claims are just not true.

ADsorption-At best, oil just 'clings' to the outer edge of the material, and the pollution has just been transferred. This is a chemical reaction.
ABsorption
-Complete and total separation of oil and water, internally surrounding the oil from the outside, and sequestering the pollution so that it can do no further harm. This is a physical phenomenon.

Many products claim to be useful in removing oil from water and soil. It is important to separate fact from fiction in these claims and review in detail the true abilities of each product. Factors to consider are physical composition, chemical materials, absorption capacity, and chemical reactivity.

PowderSorb WORKS-IT HAS BEEN PROVEN

PowderSorb has been in the trenches before, from oil removal projects in the Baltic Sea, Australia, Norway, Puget Sound, California, Maryland and Alaska. Not only did PowderSorb make an immediate difference in the recovery of various ecosystems, but was amazingly successful in cleaning and rehabilitating wildlife (Swans, Ducks, Seagulls & Seals) without employing the traditional Scrub & Wash method.

PowderSorb
is uniquely engineered to completely ABsorb liquids lighter than water utilizing Capillary Action, to render oil in the environment harmless to both vegetation and wildlife. Once encapsulated the immediate dangers of free floating oil in the environment are removed and recovery methods become cleaner, easier, faster and much safer for personnel.

PowderSorb is effective in all environmental situations, but is extremely beneficial to those environments heavy in wildlife such as ecologically sensitive areas (marshes, beaches, etc).

Placement of PowderSorb in these sensitive areas is extremely low-impact and requires no heavy equipment or large numbers of personnel to maximize clean-up efforts.

PowderSorb's physcial characteristics (capillary tubes) act like millions of miniature vacuums sucking up the oil.  Once PowderSorb makes contact with the oil it immediately renders the dispersed oil inert and unable to cause further damage to both wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem.

From product placement to product disposal PowderSorb is ideally suited to work with not against, the environment in rehabilitating polluted ecosystems back to their original state.

CLEAN - SAFE - EFFECTIVE

Independent laboratory tests reveal PowderSorb is three times as effective per pound as other sorbents.
PowderSorb is a true ABsorbent, internally taking up 90% of its volume in targeted liquids. It is non-toxic and 100% biodegradable, making it a total 'green' solution for control, recovery and disposal.

Chart is based on actual tests of PowderSorb (available upon request) and selected (not inclusive) published advertising for other products. As there are many manufacturers and distributors of other oil recovery materials the chart is only an attempt to average claims.
